LEARNING OUTCOMES

The goal of this lesson is the fundamental comprehension of the notion of structure in architecture. Building statics is studied by introducing analytical tools and methods that aim to give to students a global understanding of the architectural design process of a building structure.

SUBJECT

The program present the followings elements:

. introduction to the static notions : forces, moments, structural loads, external forces applied to the building, analyze and calculations.

. Structural categories used in architecture, properties, qualities, defaults, usual dimensions

. Balance equations of Newton, action – reaction principle, support reactions calculations

. Reticular structures calculations, isostatical structures, analyze and calculations.

Students evaluations is realised through home work (small scale construction exercises) and final written examinations (static problems to solve)
