The aim of this course is the development of combinatorial thinking through digital technology. There is an introduction to the digital media, starting with the digital press and the internet, continuing with digital image, sound and video processing applications and concluding with the development of moving image applications and a non-linear approach to time as a structural and synthetic tool.
The course starts with lectures on hardware and software. Afterwards, there is a lecture on architecture and the structures of a digital information system, on the diagram as well as on the function of hyperlinks. In the following phase, image, sound and video processing software is presented in order to familiarize the students with the digital media. The course concludes with an introduction to the moving image and the use of time as a structural item.
Parallel to the lectures, exercises are carried out lasting 2-3 weeks and aiming at familiarizing the students with the digital tools.
