LOW ENERGY BUILDING DESIGN

Biography

Dr. Aris Τsangrassoulis has received a Bsc, an  Msc  degree and his PhD in Building Physics from the Physics Dept., University of Athens.  He has worked as a researcher at the Center of Renewable Energy Sources, the National Observatory of Athens and the Group of Building Environmental Studies, University of Athens. His research interests focus on the effect of architectural design on the building energy balance, the design of passive heating-cooling and daylighting systems, the energy savings from lighting and the analysis of the effects of building construction and operation on thermal / visual comfort. He currently runs the Unit of Indoor Environment and Low Energy Building Design. He is a simulation specialist and has worked as an energy saving / lighting consultant on iconic buildings (e.g. New Acropolis Museum) , as an expert on national committees and as an expert on technical committees of the International Lighting Committee. He has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Greece and abroad while is the module coordinator of unit 51 of the HOU "Lighting Design". He is a member of the editorial boards of various international journals. He writes regularly on energy saving topics and has given many lectures by invitation.
