The course includes visits to green spaces and an introduction to plant species, as well as lectures on topics related to green spaces in the urban environment, the diachronic evolution of gardens through the influences of architecture and art, the importance and function of planted spaces in the urban environment, the classification of plants, the design of plantings and green space surface materials, the aesthetic and functional value of plants, the selection of plants for urban use and appropriate species, the Greek Mediterranean garden, green roofs and vertical plantings, as well as urban edible landscapes.
