The Special Research Topic is carried out during the 9th semester and focuses on the systematic investigation, documentation, development, and presentation of a research topic that falls within the broader framework of the curriculum and the Scientific Fields of the Department of Architecture. The Special Research Topic aims to familiarize students with contemporary research methods in the field of architecture. It seeks to develop research skills and the ability to produce extensive written texts that meet the requirements of scientific/academic work.
The Research Project is conducted individually or in small groups (up to two students) under the guidance of a member of the Teaching and Research Faculty or the Special & Lab Teaching Staff of the Department, with relevant expertise and research interests. In cases where the specific research requirements necessitate it, two members of the Teaching and Research Faculty or one Teaching and Research Faculty member and a Special & Lab Teaching Staff may supervise the project, and even external advisors may be consulted if needed.

The steps for initiating, conducting, and presenting/submitting the Research Spectial Topic are as follows:

INITIATION
The study of the Special Research Topic commences after the online submission of a brief description of the research to the Department’s Secretariat.

DEVELOPMENT
The developent of the Special Research Topic takes place in close collaboration with the supervisor(s), under whose guidance the specific requirements and challenges of each research project are addressed, as they may vary significantly from one project to another.
The final outcome of the Special Research Topic is an extended text of approximately 10,000 words (excluding footnotes, captions, and bibliography), which meets the standards of scientific/academic work. This includes adhering to ethical standards (plagiarism, intellectual property rights, etc.) and making correct and consistent use of one of the widely accepted bibliographic citation systems.

PUBLIC PRESENTATION
In consultation with the supervisor(s), students notify the Department’s Secretariat by email of their intention to joing the public presentations of Special Research Topics.
The Secretariat prepares a program of presentations, which includes names of the three-member review committee formed based on recommendations from the supervisor(s).
Students present their Special Research Topicif the following conditions are met:- The text has been checked for plagiarism using Turnitin.

A timely submission of digital booklets (PDF) to the review committee.

SUBMISSION – GRADE REGISTRATION
The grade will be recorded only after all deliverables are submitted on time on the day of the Special Research Topicpresentation.
