NEW MULTIDOME IN THE CENTER OF ATHENS

The new economic situation, among other things, creates conditions for architectural re-understanding and reaction in urban space. One symptom of the new urban condition is the limitation or exclusion of the younger population from the potentiality of indoors assembly. At the same time new forms of sexual networking via the Internet, activate the urban space as a bodily intercourse field, complementary with immaterial communication. Even the prostitution market, as commodity version of diffuse urban sexuality takes new forms of spatial planning.

Issues such as sexuality, gender, processes of sharing and domination games are under investigation in a search process of building program, typologies and interior atmospheres. The workshop is approached by a succession of two exercises-projects.

1. THE UNIT
The investigation, during the workshop, initiated by determining spatial relationships in furniture-scale and small habitation unit. The question is how established narrative and design a minimum inner reception area of libidinal accommodation. The aim is to create, from all groups, habitation units, creating a common file of units for the workshop.

2. THE MULTIDOME
Site is given in the center of Athens, for designing a multi-story "multidome", a building structure to accommodate the crowd. The new construction, which investigated of the groups separately, created by the recomposition from the units file. These will be resynthesized  to building composition, either through standardization and repetition, either through the accumulation and aggregation of different units, in  the logic of "Multidome ".  The logic of Multidome - in comparison to the apartment building (Polykatoikia)- is sought to be expressed in the program and space: How a building structure can receive and favors multiplicity, contradictory and dissimilarity within the body of architecture.
