LEARNING OUTCOMES

Knowledge, Comprehension, Analysis, Synthesis

The studio is about the design of a single family house. Formal, functional, technical and social issues related to the architecture of the house are taken into consideration. Striving with the design, students are urged to face and attach a spatial meaning to the full range of the conditions that constitute modern dwelling.

SUBJECT

In a given urban plot students are asked to put together a small residence. An initial exploration of spatial qualities, tensions and transitions will gradually form the core of a specific functional arrangement. The question of a house’s interiority and its conjunction with a demand for openness and public interaction is strongly addressed. A similar significance is given to the layout and performance of separate house parts corresponding to particular bodily needs: eating, resting, sanitation. Nevertheless, he entire course seeks to transgress current stylistic inclinations and over-analytical approaches and penetrate a conception of the house as a condenser of the being.
