On June 14, a presentation of the “Break-time space” workshop output was held for teachers and parents of the 5th Primary School of Volos.

The design proposal was greeted with enthusiasm and already donations and sponsorships are sought for its implementation. 

In the workshop, students of University of Thessaly Architecture Department in conjunction with Assistant Professor Kostas Manolidis elaborated a renovation of open-air facilities at the 5th Primary School of Volos which this year celebrates its 100 year anniversary.

The workshop is part of the REAL-TIME-ARCHITECTURE educational activities supervised by Kostas Manolidis.

The Department of Architecture of the University of Thessaly is participating to the design-build workshop "Les Defis du Bois" that will take place in Nancy, France, in may 2013.

This international workshop is gathering fifty senior architecture and civil engineering students every spring, to design and construct full-scale timber constructions within a week's time. The participants are asked to explore the design potential of wood and respond to the various challenges of construction in timber by realizing conceptually original and technically sound designs.

Biography

Pascale Feghali was born in 1969 in Beirut/Lebanon. She studied Sociology of art (1988-1993) at La Sorbonne and Visual anthropology (1999-2007) at Nanterre were she met Jean Rouch, one of the initiators of the French Nouvelle Vague. She followed his working method based on the total freedom of movement of the filmmaker during the shooting, developing a special gymnastics for that purpose. In 2007, she obtained her PHD in Visual Anthropology. Since 1995, she teaches at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut at the department of Cinema and Theatre studies. Between 1997-2001 she has founded and directed the Ayloul Festival in Beirut, an annual festival focusing on the cross-exploration of theatre, danse, installation and video. She is a research associate (since 2009) in urban anthropology at the CNRS (Centre National de Recherche Scientifique) in France.
