SOCIOLOGY OF SPACE
SUBJECT
The course focuses on basic classic and contemporary approaches to urban sociology, as well as on sociological studies of specific cities in Greece and abroad. The goal of the course is to help students comprehend the basic notions and methods of research in urban sociology. This knowledge contributes to: a. assessing the social conditions and needs wirhin the framework of which architectural activity takes place, b. better understanding of architectural theories to the degree that the latter use notions borrowed from social sciences and c. reflexively understanding the position of architects as professionals in the social tissue.
