Biography

Maria Andromachi Chatzinikolaou is a PhD candidate in the Department of History - Archeology of the University of Patras, visual artist and researcher, she holds a master’s degree in Public History from the Hellenic open University (2020), she is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts (1999-2004), the Graphic Arts Department of T.E.I. Athens (1992-1997) and has also studied at the London School of Printing Technology (1997-1998). Since 2019 she is a lecturer (P.D. 407) at the Department of Architectural Engineering of the Univ. Thessaly. She is a founding member of the Filopappou group, founder, and inspirer of the research-artistic group Artspirators, as well as a member of the Oral History Association. Her works are realized through artistic actions and visual designs that have at their core an in situ, site specific, performative, and collective character. Through the polyphony of her narratives, she seeks the recall of collective memory, activation of the local communities, and other social groups that live and work where she performs her works. She uses methods akin to public history and creates original archives comprising the products of her research and interviews.
She has participated in many exhibitions and projects in Greece and abroad.
