CHILD, CITY, PLAY; A POLYPHONIC BIOGRAPHY

Biography

Garyfallia Katsavounidou studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Diploma of Architecture, 1996), at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (SMArchS, 2000) and earned her Ph.D. (dissertation title: “Child, city, play; A polyphonic biography”) from University of Thessaly (2012), through an “Heraclitus II” scholarship. She has written Invisible Parentheses; 27 cities in Thessaloniki (Patakis, 2004) and translated Jan Gehl’s classic book Life between buildings (University Press of Thessaly, 2013). She taught Urban Design at the Department of Architecture and the Department of Regional Planning & Development of A.U.Th., as an Adjunct Lecturer, and also served as a Teaching Assistant to Professor Elias Zenghelis at the University of Thessaly.
