Postgratuate internship and studies (1979-1980) at the “Centre de Recherche et de Rencontres d’Urbanisme” (C.R.R.U. - Paris) at which he obtained the degree of Regional and Urban Planning in 1980.

Professional experience

1. From February 1985 until August 1985 he was self-employed.

2. From August 1985 until November 1988 he worked under a works contract and subsequently under a permanent contract as Architect Engineer at the Plaka Office of the then Ministry of Regional and Urban Planning.

3. From November 1988 until July 2009 he worked as an Architect Engineer in the Ministry of Culture (Archaeological Service) with exclusive subject matter the graphic documentation of architectural findings in the archaeological excavations. 

4. In July 2009 he was transferred from the Ministry of Culture to the University of Thessaly and more specifically to the Laboratory of Archaeology of the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology (ΙΑΚΑ), as permanent employee of the category PE3 –Architects, of grade A, working on the graphic documentation of architectural findings in the archaeological excavations of the Division of Archaeology of the same Department. 

5. Under the Act n. 12063 / 11.07.2013 of the Rector of the University of Thessaly he was transferred from the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology of the School of Humanities to the Department of Architecture of the School of Engineering and became part of the Laboratory of History, Theory and Conceptual Design. 

Educational experience

1. During the Spring Semester 2007-2008, he taught the “Interview Course” of the Postgraduate Program at the Department of History and Archaeology of the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens. 

2. From September 2002 until August 2011, according to the Presidential Decree no. 407/1980 and with special permission by the Ministry of Culture, he taught “Ancient Greek Architecture and Urbanism” at the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology of the School of Humanities of the University of Thessaly. He participated in the teaching of the course “Excavation Techniques in Archaeology” exclusively addressed to the students of the Division of Archaeology and giving excavation design lessons. As a lecturer in the above Department, he participated both as chief supervisor as well as member of Committees supervising and examining graduate projects. He also participated as member of Committees supervising and examining postgraduate projects of the Postgraduate Program of the same Department. 

3. From September 2009 until February 2013, according to the Presidential Decree 407/1980 and with special permission by the University of Thessaly he taught in the Department of Architecture (TAM) of the School of Engineering, the compulsory course “Space Planning in the Ancient World”, while in the Spring Semester of the academic year 2013/2014, also according to the Presidential Decree 407/1980 he taught the course “Typology of buildings in Ancient Greek Architecture”.

4. In June 2014 he joined the members of Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP), with specialization in “Ancient Greek Architecture, Urbanism and Ekistics” for the supply of laboratory − applied teaching work in the Department of Architecture of the School of Engineering of the University of Thessaly. Since then, under the new academic title, he has been teaching courses of his specialization and has participated as supervisor and as a member of Committees examining research projects of graduate students of the Department. 

Research activities

He has participated in archaeological excavations researches, surface investigations and research programs of the Archaeological Society at Athens, of the Academy of Athens, of the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens, of the Division of Urban and Regional Planning of the Department of Architecture of the NTUA, of the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly and of the British School at Athens.

Publications

His research interests always end up in publications which mainly concern Architecture, Urbanism and Ekistics of the Geometric-Protogeometric period and issues of Anthropology of Greek Protohistory. 

The teaching of the seminar course “Epistemology of Ancient Greek Architecture” at the Department of Architecture resulted in the monograph: Τεκτονικὴ καιOἰκοδομικὴ κατά ΠλάτωναΣχόλια και σημειώσεις επί των απαρχών της έννοιας της αρχιτεκτονικής: Από την αμάρτυρο στον Πλάτωνα ἀρχιτεκτονικὴ στην architectura του Βιτρουβίου, Gutenberg, Athens 2017.
