The program aims at the interdisciplinary development of gender and women studies by introducing a set of courses and academic activities to the undergraduate curricula of the university. Its goal is to raise awareness among young scientists, and the scientific community at large, of issues related to gender and equality, extending to equal opportunities for employment and women's better accessing the job market.
The Program is co-organized by five departments of the University of Thessaly: the Department of Architecture, the Department of History, Archaeology, and Social Anthropology, the Department of Primary School Education, the Department of Preschool Education, and the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science. Each of these departments sets up a series of courses whose contents have a base on its own particular discipline, yet all together promote an interdisciplinary approach. These courses are open to the entire student body. Furthermore, the Program organizes conferences, lectures, and other activities addressed to both the academic and the local communities.
