This paper offers an account and a commentary upon the special conditions of the domestic space of a family in which the mother occupies herself with "piece-work" in the very same family house. Through interviewing the mother, the authors recorded the family history with emphasis on its financial status, the role division among its members, the terms and conditions of paid job at home combined with child-raising, which involves a series of adverse effects, such as low-pay, pressure, stress, and lack of personal time. The domestic space of the family was documented through audio-visual recording with the use of the video-camera and with a special eye to the juxtaposition of work materials with household items and the conjunction of work space and home.
