The research field of the following work is the residence definitions and their way they are relative to the experiential process followed in psychological and social basis. Instincts and needs are in the core of the analysis; they are the tools of understanding of a wider and more comprehensive interpretation of the ‘home’ and ‘residence’. An examination of the ‘being’ of humans is going to be attempted, not only of the elements of ‘home’ – wall, door, window – and the space that it contains – living room, bedroom, kitchen etc – but also the interpretation and symbolism that define the residents and their choices and inner motivation that guide them regarding the habitation of today.
Theory and practice are notions in parallel. A relative sequence has been also applied in this work, based on two forms of art; literature and film that facilitate the simultaneous projection of multiple elements through the demonstration of their stories. Either with direct reference or indirectly, habitation is a genuine building of accommodating these stories, providing us with the opportunity to pinpoint the theoretical analysis.
