the lost city
Michel de Certeau described that for every movement taken there is an abstract of space which is left behind. Tha act of moving, eg. on a road track, is actually a process of losing. This kind of loss refers to the urban experience. The traveller is losing fragments of city when travelling, which by definition is inevitable. The traveller, therefore the player, is crossing a city bound to the sense of urban loss, in order to move further. If he/she wants to stay motionless, the city will neither continue disappearing, nor develop further. Reference: DE CERTEAU, Michel. The Practice of Everyday Life.
