Changings in the climate situation and the nowadays urban human intervention on the environment are constantly altering the image of inhabited areas. Part of this continuing change is floating architecture. The present essay is examining the ongoing form of the floating construction throughout history of humanity and civilization. The historical study and the approach through the scope of literature and artistic elements prove the extend of the  importance, but also the variety of the structure of it.

By studying  once the domus and once the city and backwards,  presents the value an the opportunities of use of the floating structure concerning all the levels of inhabitance until today.
