This particular research project aims at recording the habitants’ residential practices in the Greek capital in the decades of 1950 and 1960 and presenting them through vintage films. Initially presenting the living conditions in the old Athenian house, the study focuses on the residential building, as well as on the corresponding social and economic parameters (urbanism, consideration, expansion, consumption). Furthermore, there is a brief reference to the remaining types of residence (mansions, country houses and refugee houses), as well as to the corresponding social classes. In the end, there is a comment on the changes and the effects of the construction climax during the postwar period.
Apart from the bibliography, the research elaborates on the Greek cinematography of that period and its references to the place of residence, and especially to the apartment.
