The present special research topic is a course through a labyrinth, not by choice, but because thus it happened: It happened to be a linear course to the centre, as those that indicated labyrinths engraved in rocks or painted in vessels thousands of years ago. The complexity of the course escalated while advanced. My steps in the beginning were sure, as they touched upon grounds known, comprehensible, close to the exit. However as I continued, afterwards the first turns, when the exit was not close enough anymore, the ground became unstable, marshy and hard to transverse, the course got ramifications, the distress conquered me, as no criterion suggested the decisions… Despite the difficulty I continued advancing, I do not know whether I finally accomplished to reach the centre or I simply wandered in this labyrinth. This way or another at the duration of my course I also had clew: I had my own labyrinths, I devised them roughly in corners that scared me, in order to mock the one into what I walked…
The present work is, therefore, a recording of this course. It starts with the novel of Paul Bowles Sheltering Sky, and more concretely with the labyrinths that the writer manufactures in his pages. The next part is about labyrinth as a word as well as a symbol; on the one hand the significance of labyrinth is approached through a variety of lexicons, on the other hand the history of this subject is presented. Furthermore the ancient Greek fable of Thiseas and Minotayros is recorded analytically. The last part of the present special research topic has to do with the science of psychoanalysis, connecting the significance of labyrinth with the dreams, the words, the thoughts, with the unprincipled… In the end of this path are my own labyrinths, small histories on the subject the labyrinth.
