This thesis presents the project Co:neXion, a digital application that employs contemporary technology and augmented reality to create virtual environments directly connected to real space. A methodology of merging physical and digital space is developed, through which the environment is gamified by leveraging cultural data. The aim is to propose a new form of reuse for existing locations, where the aesthetics of the game are combined with the architecture and historical significance of each site. The methodology is demonstrated through the development of a demo with the city of Rhodes as a case study. Through narrative and the use of allegories, the game acquires an educational dimension, encouraging users to seek factual information while also enhancing interest in places of historical value. The thesis aims to show how digital representation and imagination can strengthen the user’s connection with the past and suggest a new way of interacting with space.
