Is there an interconnected relationship between architecture and natural elements? Since according to ontology, reality is structured based on the four fundamental elements, similarly in architecture those elements constitute it s foundation. Earth, water, fire and air become the starting point that create the ambience of a space when designing. Architecture comes to life when it connects with the physical elements. Every space reflects and impacts differently each person and their emotions. A human presence within a space creates a different energy to that of an empty space, where only forms and light exist. Through the design of a space it is possible to create an interaction between a human and nature, breaking through city-nature barrier and creating a space of co-existence. This research will include case studies and further analysis that relate to this theory. More specifically, it will investigate examples of biophilic design and the impact it has on humans, perception and emotions. The philosophy of architecture ought to be influenced by nature and adapt to it as well.
