The special research topic titled “Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in the city of Larissa. Evolution in a sustainable city. Reference to the pedestrianization of main streets” by Athanasios Tellios and supervising Professor Mr. Konstadinos Paniyiris focuses on the recording and critical presentation of actions, studies and projects of the Municipality of Larissa in the effort to improve the quality of life, functional and sensory of the central area and the reconstruction of the elements that compose the identity and the physiognomy of the city. The history of the city dates back to ancient times and goes back to modern times, always maintaining the same urban structure. Over the years, however, due to rapid developments in social and economic terms, it has resulted in its weakening and dysfunction, causing a multitude of problems to the inhabitants. This changed when the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans began to be implemented, aiming at upgrading the city and promoting emblematic urban projects that would highlight the cultural identity of the place and turn Larissa into a new and large urban center. The projects were mainly aimed at preventing the reckless use of private vehicles, especially in the center, while offering public space to citizens including comfortable bike lanes, sidewalks and squares with rich equipment and a beautiful and attractive environment with more greenery. These changes are radical and aim to lead to the universal change of the daily life of the inhabitants, "forcing" them to change their way of life and mentality.
