In the city of Athens, where avenues play an important role on her traffic and growth, there can be found certain roadways who constitute reference points of the city’s past. Such a roadway is Kifisias Avenue/Str., which preserves/holds an unchanged characteristic in the course of time: its layout. All the rest that exist on its fringes are transformable and subject to changes.
Under the necessity of understanding this avenue, various ways/methods of interpretation were used, as both of the avenue and its layout share the common characteristic of their linearity. Thus Kifisias Avenue can be considered a linear narration of its evolution during the years, either (if) it’s about the events that have taken place there or its buildings. However this historic street can be an once again linear narration of its passengers’ experiences, in any way and time they choose to read or go across it.
Today there can be more than one ways for anyone who wants to come in touch with and read a place / Kifisias Avenue (a place like K. A.). Such ways are digital maps, “virtual” street level tours/“walks” (using a 3D map), aerial photos and of course visiting the street physically. All these ways were approached/used for this project, so that the experience of visiting Kifisias Avenue and of course the roadway itself can be understood and perceived in the best possible, extracting every bit of possible information, especially through the pictures taken on the spot. Their main protagonist are the architectural (forms and) motifs which accompany the roadway throughout its lifetime, since they consist its main reference points and define its form.
