The subject of the present thesis is a study about the space and housing architecture in pre-revolutionary Russia, in the period 1800-1918.
This time period was chosen on the basis of both the historical context, in which rapid changes in the political situation of the country occurred (the abolition of serfdom, urbanization of the two cities, social unrest), but also because of the Golden Age of Russian Literature, an era in which some of the greatest literary works of World Literature were written.
In most literature works the morals and living conditions, of both the urban and working class people, were described, thus making those texts an important source of information of this study.
The aim of the thesis is to describe and record the residence and also the analysis of space, through literary texts and the world view of each author of this era.
