The synthesis and the construction of a building is difficult to be occurred in terms of engineering, since in architecture the building is treated as a living organism.

Plastic is a durable material that has many shaping capabilities and appearance alternatives. It is used in both ephemeral and permanent architecture, large scaled and small scaled projects with impressive ways. Moreover, industrial designers use it to produce innovative products.

Plastic was first created in the early 1960s, and since then, it is the most common material, met in everyday life.

Quantity of plastic, frequency of use and the wrong way of treatment are causes for many discussions with main topic the consequences of plastic for human health and the environment.

This research firstly focuses in references, the history of plastic as a material, the different types and several examples of its application in architecture and industrial design. However, focal points are the ways of managing the usage of the plastic and its alternatives.

Apart from the fact that plastic is a polymorphic and durable material, it is interesting that nowadays it is the center of attention in many discussions and environmental surveys. These are the main reasons that plastic is the major focus in this research.

As conclusions, reasons of why this material is dangerous for the public health and for the environment are presented and an attempt to questions, such as why people still produce and use plastic even though they are aware of the risk is made.
