The Touristic Pelion Guide could provide a new kind of travel guide for those who love the nature activities or for those who would like to experience the famous mountain of the Centaurs through another look. This guide is a patchwork of information, which let the reader know the geographical, historical and cultural side of Pelion and experience the place through another kind of tourism, which increasingly develops and deals with man's relationship with nature.
The Alternative Tourism is coming to protect the nature, to support the rural areas and to put an end to the problem of seasonal tourism by giving life to the mountain even the most difficult times. Varied sports and other activities use the sea, the mountain, the streets and natural resources enabling the visitors to tour the place, to observe and interact with the landscape and the ecosystem.
In recent years, alternative tourism has developed in the area and several local studies predict its emergence. Also, local authorities and various volunteer groups work to show the diversity and specificity of the place in order to invite most travelers.
Finally, my discussions with various visitors - nature lovers and the personal trips, gave me the stimulus to seek the idea of temporary residence in the mountains. Thus, this manual has been designed to include lists of various scenarios with temporary stay in a small, self-catering accommodation, which functions additionally to the completion of the visitor experience, the stay and socializing with other travelers.
