Biography

Dimitris Poulios graduated from the School of Architecture, University of Thessaly (Volos) in 2010, and completed postgraduate studies in Urban Design at Cardiff University (UK) with a Bodossaki Foundation scholarship. His interests focus on Urban Design, Urban Planning, Heritage Management, and Community Participation. In 2021, he earned a PhD in Urban Planning from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) as an Onassis Foundation scholar.

He has received several distinctions and awards for his work, including recognition in architectural and urban planning competitions in Greece and abroad. In 2025, he was part of the team that received the European Architectural Heritage Intervention Award for the Ancient Corinth Masterplan, and the 3rd Prize in the 13th European Urban and Regional Planning Awards for the Faleron Redevelopment.

He has professional experience in Greece and internationally (UK, Albania, Cyprus, Palestine, Georgia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.). He joined Thymio Papayannis and Associates (TPA) in 2013, working as an Urban Planner, Urban Designer, and Project Manager. Since 2019, he has been a partner and member of the Management Team, overseeing Urban Design and Planning projects. In 2015, he also co-founded Commonspace, a cooperative focusing on participatory planning and community engagement.

Since 2022, he has been teaching Urban Planning,  Urban Design and Public Space Theory and Design as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Thessaly and the Technical University of Crete. As of 2025, he is also a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Thessaly, as part of the AGRITHES research team.
