Buildings are among the most important energy consumer’s. Approximately, 40% of the final consumption in Europe is in the sector of buildings; however we can achieve important saving by using the correct materials and the correct proportions.
During the day, thermal mass absorbs the excess energy of a building, so it could attribute gradually to the environment of the building later, in that way, there will be no temperature fluctuations. The thermal mass plays the role of “temperature regulator”, both winter and summer.
The quantity of thermal mass depends on the weight of the structural materials which are found within the building. Therefore, it recommended not to using internal insulation, because it neutralizes the thermal mass.
The materials, that both the traditional and modern way of the layout in the regions of South Europe are used, include great quantity of thermo factor as stone, bricks and concrete.
According to the climate and by using correctly the thermal mass and glass panes of a building, it can archive an important decrease in annual needs, heating and refrigeration
During the research, it will be analyzed different technologies for a wall with alternations of materials and their dimensions. It will be study the energy performance of buildings by the same designing parameters with the different materials and dimensions.
In conclusion, this research helps us to find the optimal stonework, in order to consume the lower energy and to have the most possible economic solution.
