The research analyzes the coastal area of Volos, from the University of Thessaly (Papastratos building) to the Anavros Park. The research is organised as follows: a) historical research and b) localised research. The first section is entitled “Historical Approach” and it refers to the history of the area since 1881, when Volos was integrated in the Hellenic state until today. The morphological changes of the coastline, the changes of the area subjected to this research, the decisions and the historical facts that affected and shaped the formations of the area, are recorded in chronological order. The second part of the research is called “The current state” and it is divided in four sections. In the first section, which is entitled “Today”, there is a description of the area, as it is today. In the second section called “Sculptures”, the monuments and sculptures, which are met in the area, are presented. In the third section, “Analysis”, the urban planning, the population and the plantation of the area are analyzed. To sum up, in the “Conclusions” section the positive and negative findings of our research are recorded.
