The research Artificial lighting systems: study and design in schools ,firstly, deals with the study of the artificial lighting systems in schools, which appear to be very important in combination with the right design of natural lighting system and in addition to that with how a design must manage an artificial lighting system, The types of lamps are presented as well as their characteristics, the types of the luminaries and the type of the lighting that they produce and also the way that the lighting in a classroom influence the psychology of the students, its energy, its performance and even its health. Last but not the least, the research consists of the ways with which energy saving could be achieved. The second part of the research concerns on the measurements which I carried out in several schools and specifically in their classrooms. In primary schools of Portaria, Nea Ionia/Volos,, 3rd primary schools, secondary school, high school of Plomari/Lesvos. The results of these measurements, as well as, the conclusion of these measurements, are included in the research, too.
The second part of the research, regards to the design of a new lighting system according to the findings that have been made in the first part. The new lighting system is designed for the primary school of N.Ionia, the lighting of which was considered inappropriate.
