This research investigates a form of residence that does not follow the traditional legal rules. Researching initially the concept utopia/ micro-utopia, this alternative way of living, the self run household comprises a kind of micro-utopian practice, an islet, a residential enclosure, in modern society. According to this concept, Temporary Autonomist Zones, small societies are formed, which are marginalized-exiting as an “exception”. Such kind of places are fundamental and necessary in a city, which through its controversies constructs modern reality.
The existence of the Self Run Household presupposes the squatting of empty or deserted buildings. It is an experimental social Workshop, in which coexist a collective way of life without the hierarchical principles of conventional living, creating a different everyday reality. The direct (without influences) decoding of everyday needs, creates a series of spatial experiences. A continuous changing Architecture, liberated from the established roles of “architect” and “designer” allows us to discover a continuous relation between event(action)and space.
