In the following essay the author is keen to describe maritime structures related to living and transportation and explain how such structures are linked and related to modern architecture and the Unite d’ Habilitation in specific.
Structures regarding the spatial characteristics and the manufacturing of four different floating means of transportation are being examined in detail. The means and structures examined derive from sailboats, freighter ships, passenger ships and the Greek fishing boat trechantiri.
The essence of scale derived from the human body, motion, position , view ,and the means of transition from the inside to the outside are the main principles upon which the aforementioned spaces are being experienced and translated to measurable space through the application of a pattern grid (kannabos). The way such spaces are inhibited and the boundaries between private and public space are the main parameters of our research.
Finaly the author examines the ways shipbuilding has influenced and fueled the evolution of Unite d’habilitation de Marseille.
