Since the time of the hut, man created accommodation that respond to his needs. These creations, despite their simplicity as far as materials and building goes, hide wisdom and craftsmanship that has been passed down generations. In Greece, the hut of Sarakatsani and Dragasies in Thessaly flatline, are two of the most known ones. In these two occasions the hut was a shelter as well as an irremovable tool of everyday use, cultivating constant feedback between body, hut and nature. As time went on, the role of the hut has sifted, nowadays it is a point of reference, so we can review our past and question the way we build and inhabit. With this reach subject, I attempt to establish a connection between the hut typology and installation art. More specifically, studying works from the exhibition titled Minimum structure (curator: Apostolis Artinos), as well as other works of installation art in Greece and internationally, I will detect similar reference patterns, revivals, anachronisms, shifts between the old and the modern.
