The research investigates the aspects of the local in the architecture of Spetses. In particular, the analysis of the research is based on information from the historical archive of the island, online articles, documentaries, and bibliography relevant to the topic. The research study is accompanied by plans, images and diagrams that facilitate the understanding of the spatial structure and architectural typologies. In addition, the analysis focuses on architectural examples of Spetses that are considered as "landmarks" and marked the island’s architectural history such as the mansion of Anargyros Sotirios (1903), the Grand Hotel "Poseidonio" (1914), the Hotel "Xenia" of the Hellenic’s Tourism Organization (1960), the settlement at the area of Ligoneri (1967) but also the so-called "neo-vernacular" buildings. Through these references, the present study contributes to the understanding of the island’s architecture emphasizing the multiple aspects of the local.
