Cinema is the art form that has functioned as one of the main means of capturing the transformations of urban space and social conditions. The constantly changing urban conditions of Athens have been a source of inspiration for filmmakers throughout the 20th century until today. The subject of this research work is the examination of cinematic representations of Athenian urban spaces during the so-called period of the Greek "crisis." The methodology of this work is based on the analysis of specific film scenes from various movies that relate to aspects of the "crisis" in Athenian spaces. The aim of the research is to understand and document the impact that the crisis had on spaces as depicted through the camera lens. It focuses on the period from 2008 to 2017 in films that reflect the social consequences in Athens and shed light on deeper dimensions of the transformation of public and domestic spaces. Through the comparative presentation of the films, the work attempts to highlight critical themes for understanding the role of space and the built environment in the changing social reality.
