In this research we will deal with the architectural marvels that have transcended the static limitations of conventional structures, thus embracing the essence of evolution and adaptability – the rotating structures. As we move through the pages of this research, we will embark on a journey spanning centuries, retrieving the fascinating narratives of those remarkable buildings. From ancient design to modern times, each spin whispers a unique story, encompassing the ingenuity, cultural dynamics and technological prowess of their eras. Central to our research is Chad Randl’s interesting work, this book ‘’ARCHITECTURE: A HISTORY OF BUILDINGS THAT ROTATE, SWIVEL AND PIVOT’’, published in 200, which provides a guiding material for my research that I have enriched with a variety of different sources from the Internet. With the tools above, I aim to offer a new perspective of this fascinating architectural phenomenon, revealing the world of rotating structures. Although revolving buildings were often seen as symbols of progress and modernism, they also met with controversial reactions and derision from the public. So, by drawing on Randl’s work, I aim to offer a new perspective on this fascinating architectural phenomenon. In my effort, we will explore some of the early designs that incorporate circular motion, inspired either by nature or through various earlier ideas and constructions that aimed to improve human life. Through understanding these designs, we will be able to manage the evolution and development of revolving structures over time and then analyse various aspects as well as difficulties arising in the design of revolving structures from ancient times to the present day such as the emphasis on stability and safety, aesthetic simplification, energy efficiency and sustainability, functional limitations, cost and complexity, evolving design trends and long-term durability and timelessness.
