Going through an era where technology influences and dramatically changes daily habits and processes, the typology of libraries is undergoing a transformation. At the same time, our knowledge of the process of reading and our general relationship with information and learning environments is constantly increasing. The current trend in the library program seems to focus more on collective activities, such as supporting various types of events and workshops, and on developing new skills and competencies. The space required for these activities has led many libraries to need to store part of their collection so that they can accommodate them, and this has raised controversy over the role of books in libraries and our relationship with technology in the field of education. Part of this controversy is Steven Holl, where with the public library in Hunters Point, Queens, he is confronted with these concerns. On this occasion, a study of the history of libraries and an analysis of the emblematic library of Exeter by Louis Kahn and that of Hunters Point is carried out, which aims to discover and recognize all these changes in order to better understand the needs to be met by libraries in the 21st century.
