The main purpose of this research paper is the contribution to the effort of understanding the phenomenon of the Greek apartment building and its evolution.
The course of the urban apartment building is influenced by conjunctural factors, such as the post-war conditions, as well as, by structural ones, such as the social and spatial characteristics of the property.
The largest percentage of residents in a Greek city revolves their daily lifetime around the urban apartment building and the quality of life it offers, can be measured depending on the amenities it provides. The urban apartment is characterized by its features, such as the orientation, the view, the quality of construction, materials and equipment, the overall state of maintenance, etc.
This research also refers to the projection through the Greek cinema of the urban district during the period of intense Greek reconstruction (1950-1970), as well as to the faithful adherence to the international standards of living, which are promotes intensively through advertising and cinema.
During the decades passing, the acquisition of an apartment to meet the basic need of housing, has been reformed, now following the modern standards of the apartment building model, with the new criterion of the new type of greek compensation (antiparochi).
The concept of antiparochi is completely identical with the current mutation of the phenomenon, i.e. with the existence of a service provider, capable of shaping the new standards of urban living in the apartment and in the larger scale of the city.
The evolution of the phenomenon of antiparochi and its identification with the modern airbnb, is indicated through the projection of the similar interior of different apartments in different apartment buildings and areas of Athens.
