The following research paper investigates the way in which man tried to organize knowledge / information in order to understand the world. It focuses on the structure of the network, as the successor to the tree structure, and how it still manages to deal with the complexity of modern life. Its application in the urban landscape is being examined from the time when its term took an analogous form until today, when the intangible technology networks and the Internet have taken a primary role and step in the organization of everyday life. It presents a series of digital applications that turn the city into an interactive diagram, open for data analysis. While still, it comments on how the recording of point digital data enhances the urban experience. Finally, through an example / experiment in a selected urban intervention, it attempts to prove that social media can reveal strengths and weaknesses in urban planning.
