The content of this research project constitutes proof of our desire to investigate the genealogy of the circumstances that enabled the development and completion of the conceptual ( ideological) relationship and the design-construction practice defined as “minimum residence”. To comprehend the ways in which this practice was historically expressed and continues to be expressed until this day following the evolved technological developments.
The incentive for this choice was the enquiry for the intuitive, instinctive need of animals to construct their nests economically (durable materials, minimum effort-maximum reward) in order to protect themselves (weather conditions- predators). The first step of our research was the example of a turtle’s shell, since, during this exceptional natural practice, a shell-house with ideal efficiency is developed gradually, step by step.
