In the short time between the eternity before our birth and the eternity followed by our death, the bed offers the right conditions for the periods of sleep, relaxation and many other activities that we usually do in an horizontal position. The bed absorb more energy than any other furniture. Starting from a historical review, we notice that the bed from a simple space on the ground became a piece of furniture. It was lifted up from the ground and adopted its own seperate place and substance. The bed itself is an element with which the resident is associated. When placed in the room without the subject, without the parallel indication of a trace of a presentable stay, it can only act as a document for what happened in the room or for what never happened. The object-bed can tell the story of the subject. For that reason, there is a hint in the relationship between the subject-person and the object-bed, by its typical features. The space in which the bed is placed, is an add in its function and in the affection that this object can have in the person's frame of mind, and the opposite. It is the object-bed or the space in which is placed, the reason of the feeling of security or insecurity during sleep?
The need for security and protection it was the man's inspiration to build a home. One could say that the bed is the transition to culture. Security creates pleasure, satisfaction and the support of a man in physical or psychological pain. Conversely, insecurity creates psychosomatic symptoms, that sometimes lead to a sticky. How such a feeling so srong and sodecisive, with so many variations, is again stemming from this simple object? Is is so simple as it seems?
The combination of pleasure, good sleep and sexual pleasure, maybe leads to the absolute satisfaction. Which other furniture could accommodate this activity-need-wish?
We conclude form the historical review to the present time that the bed is still the centre of the home, in the sense that it is the object in which from the Ancient Greek an Romans to the day today, everyday activities take place.
