This research aims to the examination of the evolution of the adaptive architecture, as the post-war Avant-garde architecture introduced, till it’s most recent presence.
Starting with the technically abstract drawings of Cedric Price, till the first experiments of Oosterhuis, this research project is analyzing the capabilities of the interactive and adaptive environments under the service of their users in real time-circumstances. Taking into account the, constantly evolving, ambient intelligence in the period that is being examined in this research, it could be reasonable to expect new spatial qualities according to time. Spaces that are responding, thinking and propose. How is it possible for a conversation between human and architecture to happen, in which way can this relationship be sincere and how the habitant of this kind of architecture should behave?
This project could actually be a Guide of the last 7 decades according to the interactions of architecture and cybernetics, living users and semiautonomous environments, imaginary and reality situations, in the frame of artificial intelligence. The research tries to analyze the technical conditions of the mechanical systems of the projects, the assembly between the parts of them, as well as the philosophical and psychological aspects of every projects that is included, according to their social abilities and the perception of the user.
Speaking, at last, for an architecture as a spatial production system, and not as a definite product of a procedure its procedure, it is doubt the role of the architect as a global designer. It is proposed a frame, that space has its own consciousness and self-activity, and adapts to the unique and constantly changing demands of its users. There isn’t a matter of a spatial snapshot but a flexibly transformable mold.
