The research project is about a daylighting system which sends the sun radiation immediately into a room in a big depth. The system consists of a solar tracker ,which monitors the movement of the sun, reflects solar radiation and send it in a specific point to the ceiling of the room. The sun tracker is positioned on the outside of the building at a height of 2.5 meters from the base point of the room.It is oriented to the north (for the north hemisphere of the earth) and it is estimated that the direct solar trace is about 800 lux at a sunny day. The diameter of the solar tracker could be adjusted according to the space necessities and the design of the building. The solar tracker sends immediately the radiation at a specific point to the ceiling ,where a special illuminant system has been designed to reflect and diffuse it to the space. The illuminant system is made by metal triangles (of reflective material) and its size is also adjustable according to the space. Moreover, there is a small reference to basic optic information, the biological function of the eye, information about natural light and architectureand the benefits of the natural light to the people. It was also necessary to study the fundamental principles of light and the already existing daylighting systems,in order to figure our own proposal in this research project.
