This research’s subject of study is a peculiar construction, the domes. There is an attempt for an approach and interpretation of particular architecture, identification of the time and use of building, as well as the role of these buildings to the social and financial life of the inhabitants. There are vaulted stone structures in many parts of the world and Europe is not an exception. Regarding Greece, domes were built since ancient times, like sacred and vaulted tombs. The dome as a way of roof construction is still used today. In Magnesia in Thessaly, except the ancient vaulted tombs, there are dozens of agricultural-pastoral stone vaulted structures, both seperate or in groups, where two or more domes are located. In the wider area of the domes of the complex of The Great Oak, a stone work of a special type, the cobbled path of Sesklo - Kantiraga played a very important role as a trade route of the season. Alongside, the stone steeple of Sesklo highlights the ability of the stone masons to build even majestic buildings like this specific one. These structures are being increasingly recognized as a part of our cultural heritage. Their emergence and maintenance will contribute in their future re-use and in their establishment as stone monuments.
