The following essay gives an overview of the history of reciprocal frame structures in Europe and Asia, from Neolithic time till the up to date application of the RF structural principal in Architecture and Design. It shows the state of the art of research focusing on RF in terms of structural analysis, morphology and technological applications. A research on local and global RF geometry by means of model construction is presented, both from a theoretical and practical perspective, in order to obtain better understanding of the RF geometrical complexity and ‘gain control’ over the global geometry’s morphology.
