The main subject of this research is Necropolis of Cairo. It is about the inhabited cemeteries of Cairo, which hosts the living and the dead at the same time. The factors that leaded to the creation and the configuration of the cemeteries through centuries are very interesting and complicated. The development of this area emerged through economical, political, social, urban and religious components. Moreover, the fact that religion is being fronted very strictly by followers is one more reason to research about the way in which religion and simple daily needs can coexist. The goal of this research is to analyze the way in which this situation can be possible and how it came up.
