“ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN”
INVITATION FOR THE SUBMISSION OF CANDIDATURES
The Department of Architectural Engineers of the University of Thessaly invites all interested students to submit their candidature, in order to attend the Postgraduate Studies’ Program (PSP) of the academic year 2010-2011, which leads to the award of a Postgraduate Specialisation Diploma (PSD) in Architectural Design.
The award of the PSD requires the attendance and successful examination in four (4) courses and four (4) laboratories, distributed in two semesters, which are followed by the elaboration and the successful examination of the postgraduate diploma project. The studies are integrated within three semesters (full-time attendance).
The attendance of the Postgraduate Studies’ Program requires no tuition fees.
The number of admitted students is twenty (20). Additionally admitted are one (1) native scholar of the State Scholarships Foundation (SSF), one (1) scholar of the “Alexander Onassis” scholarships' program, and one (1) foreign scholar of the Greek State.
The program accepts graduates of Higher Education Institutes of Greece, or of corresponding foreign Departments, the undergraduate studies of which are directly related to the corresponding scientific subjects of the program.
A suggestive list of the Departments, the graduates of which may file their applications, are:
- Departments of Architecture
- Schools of Fine Arts
- Departments of Industrial Design
Applications of graduates of other Higher Education Institute, or Technical Education Institute Departments, are acceptable, provided that the candidates have, either completed postgraduate studies in the above subjects, or acknowledged professional experience.
All interested students must submit to the PSP’s Secretariat the following supporting documents, the latest by the 31th of May 2010 (the date on the post stamp, in case of applications sent by post):
- A printout of the application (supplied on the PSP’s webpage).
- A photograph, in the size of an identity photograph, glued on the relevant area of the Application Form.
- A copy of the identity card (or of the passport, in case of foreign candidates).
- A detailed curriculum vitae.
- A certified copy of a diploma, or degree, or an attestation, certifying that graduation is expected to occur until the 30th of September 2010, as well a certificate of equivalence of the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Centre (NARIC), if required.
- A certified, detailed Table of Courses and Grades.
- A certificate attesting the knowledge of foreign Languages (the knowledge of one foreign language, especially of the English language, is a requirement). For foreigners, the sufficient knowledge of the Greek language is also required. The level of knowledge of the foreign language/s shall be at least equivalent to the State Foreign Language Certificate Level B, of Law 2740/1999, as replaced by paragraph 19, article 13, of Law 3149/2003. The holders of degrees, or postgraduate titles of studies from foreign Universities are excluded from such obligation.
- The memorandum of projects, certifying the quality of the candidates’ architectural and artistic fieldwork.
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation, from University instructors, researchers, or distinguished persons.
- A short text of 500-600 words, indicating the reasons why the candidate wishes to attend the PSP.
NOTE: The curriculum vitae and the application shall on the one hand be filled-in by the candidates and dispatched in the form of printouts, together with the rest of the candidature file’s supporting documents, and on the other hand (compulsory) they shall also be sent in an electronic form, to the e-mail address pmsarch@arch.uth.gr, after having filled-in the special form that is supplied at the website.
The selection of candidates is made by the candidate students’ selection committee of the PSP, in two stages:
- during the first stage, the committee evaluates the candidate’s file.
- during the second stage, the qualifying candidates of the first stage will be invited for an interview.
