Biography

Magda Mavridou has received her Architecture Diploma from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She attended a master degree in the Bartlett (MSc Adanced Architectural Studies) and  consequently obtained her Doctoral Diploma funded by the Greek State.

She has worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Cognitive Science in the University of Freiburg, Germany. She has taught at the Bartlett master courses MSc Advanced Architectural Studies and MSc Adaptive Architecture and Computation where she also supervised student’s final dissertations. She has worked as teaching assistant at the School of Architecture at the Aristotle University of Tessaloniki. She has lectured in the Bartlett, at the University of Freiburg and at the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University and of the University of Thessaly. She has also been reviewing papers for conferences.

As a practitioner architect she has worked for many years in London where she gained experience on international projects of masterplanning, strategic and urban design and in Thessaloniki both in the past and present, having now her own practice, with experience in small scale architectural projects.

Her research interests are focused on the study of design concepts through a cognitive approach, on the use of virtual reality as a methodological tool for the study of spatial cognition and finally on issues of spatial accessibility (accessibility of spaces, commodities and services) in urban design.
