The goal of this special research topic is the understanding and basic analization of the tendencies in school architecture during two very importand periods for Greece, during the last century; and specifically the time before and after the second world war. There are many marameters on which this analisis can based. This essay chooses as the only one the parameter of the politics in europe an Greece during this time, and the impact this had on every aspect of art, and inevitably on architecture.
The reason for thisspecial research topic was the fact that only a few years after the recreation of Greece as an inependent country, the rear fenomenon of “overeducation” among the greeks was noticed. This fact ocurred because a lot of people started moving from the camp to the city. In their minds, this gesture was transleted as a way to upgrade their social status because they were moving far away from the lower way of life of a farmer towards the bourgeoisie (urban class); in other words the transition from a world caracterized where manual labour was dominand to one were a minimum level of education was necessary. Obviously, a healthy transition was defining the educational system as a basic influence in order to achieve this goal.
