The illegal settlements in Greece, which are placed out of city plan, is a phenomenon that came along as result of the inapplicability of the legal space mechanisms to lodge the populations, which flew into big cities for several reasons ( emigrants in 1922, in-migrants in 1946).  A big mass of these populations was led to his self – housing. This fact had as a result the creation of illegal – self- generated settlements such as settlement “Meteora“ in Thessaloniki. The process of space production     is characterized by the lack of space planning. It’s about a process of self- construction, inventive originality and accumulation of materials and elements from the rural environment which officiates as a pedestal and from the urban environment that officiates as a model.A process of space production which is based on the “needs” which collaborates with the misfortuned walk of the settlers.

The result of this process is the creation of an environment that is characterized by disorder and incompletion incompatibility of the produced forms. An environment  which works as an “receptor” of new elements and characteristics and as a settlement of “ production “ of prototypical shapes and  constructions. This environment comes in contrast urban model – environment which development and structure is completely different. An environment which is on planning and space organization and day by day, having the advantage of the legalization of the area of this study makes its presence stronger and stronger and is expected to be incumbent upon the one that is already formed.
